As a ministry, our main focus is to reach out to individuals through Bible studies and fellowship.   While involved in Bible studies, the inmates are expected to commit their time and efforts to complete the assignments, attend class regularly, and to keep confidentiality in the classroom.  The main studies that we are presenting in the classses have a combination Bible study / Workbook.   Each study also has a DVD series that is hosted by the author.

The Search for Significance by Robert McGee

The study guides people in understanding how they are seen through God’s eyes.  It explores insightful self-inventory exercises and the four false beliefs that keep people from the joy of abundant life in Christ.  The book emphasizes that individuals are free to enjoy Christ’s love while no longer basing their self-worth on their accomplishments or the opinions of others.  More imporantly, individuals participating in the class learn how to overcome obstacles that prevent them from experiencing the truth that self-worth is only found in the love, acceptance and forgiveness of Christ.

The Search for Peace by Robert McGee

As the author states in the introduction of this study, “Before we begin the search for peace, I want to start by laying this firm foundation: ‘ You will know the truth and the truth will set you free’ (Jn 8:32).   Knowing the truth and accepting its power is the rock upon which we will find forgiveness and peace.   Whether or not we believe it or accept it, the truth is still the truth.”  He also shares with us this, “As the truth of God is opened to you, and as you make it yours, you shall be free indeed.   It is at that point that you will know and experience the peace that passes all understanding.”

One Bible study class that we hold in the afternoons at Dwight CC has a different curriculum.  In this class, we have focused on the teachings by Beth Moore.  These Bible studies usually last approximatly 13 - 16 weeks, and are also accompanied by the DVD  This class is available for open enrollment.  There are no stipulations on the terms, other than having at least 16 weeks left of sentence.  This way those attending can have enough time to complete the study.

We have a passion to help these women become more productive citizens in their communities.   We have been called to step up and help those that may have been forgotten or have been passed by.  “The Spirit of the Sovereigh Lord is on me, because the Lord has annointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,...”
