Laurie Jackson

Laurie has been involved in prison ministry for five years.  She teaches four clases in three Illinois prisons:  Dwight Maximum Security, Lincoln Minimum Security and Decatur Minimum Security.  Her passion is to reach inmates and tio disciple them through the Word of God.  By pouring her heart into her ministry, Laurie was chosen to be the Volunteer of the Year at Dwight and Lincoln Correctional Centers in 2006 and also at Decatur Correctional Center in 2007.  Laurie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Corrections from Southern Illinois University in 1988.  She is also a licensed Crisis Chaplain, and reaches out to many in need.   Praying to receive Christ in 1999, she has continually studied and enjoyed getting closer to the Lord.  Laurie attends Unity Pabtist Church with her husband and two childrne.  “It is such a blessing to be called to prison ministry and to be able to reach the lost to glorify the Lord.”

We have a passion to help these women become more productive citizens in their communities.   We have been called to step up and help those that may have been forgotten or have been passed by.  “The Spirit of the Sovereigh Lord is on me, because the Lord has annointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,...”
